Important Chamber Events


  • Cabin Fever Weekend: Break out of the winter doldrums with a great weekend of fun winter activities – both indoors and out – at the end of January in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
  • Annual Chamber Dinner & Auction: Enjoy a fun and entertaining evening out with friends and your fellow Chamber members. This great social event is usually held in mid-to-late February.
  • ChickFest: Springtime retail promotion designed especially for women the first Saturday in April.
  • Volunteer Recognition Awards: Community-wide recognition of outstanding volunteers each spring by various organizations and entities, including presentation of the Chamber’s Man of the Year and Woman of the Year awards.
  • Charles City Challenge: Iowa’s first whitewater river course hosts this annual festival and competition for all ages and skill levels. Be sure to check out the events on shore for those who prefer to stay dry!
  • Smoke on the Cedar BBQ Competition: Part of Whitewater Weekend in conjunction with the Charles City Challenge. BBQ teams compete under Kansas City BBQ rules for cash prizes, while the public gets to sample and enjoy their ribs!
  • Iowa Summer Games: The Chamber assists the Iowa Summer Games with hosting whitewater competition events in Charles City in late June.

  • Fourth of July Celebration: Charles City’s biggest party of the year, this multi-day celebration features live music, games, food and beverage vendors in the park, the big Independence Day Parade, fireworks and more.
  • Chamber Golf Outing: Enjoy a great time golfing, networking and socializing with fellow Chamber members and guests at this annual event held at Cedar Ridge Golf Course. Enjoy a good meal and a chance to take home prizes and tournament winnings.
  • Witches Night Out: Retail promotion having fun with a Halloween theme in October.
  • Annual Photo Contest: Catch Charles City at its best! The Chamber sponsors an annual photo contest for a chance to win Charles City cash. The photos must be taken within Floyd County only. Contest forms are available at the Chamber office or online.
  • Holiday Cheer Program: Share the holiday spirit and the gift of giving by helping a less fortunate family in the area through this Chamber-sponsored program that helps match those in need with those willing to spread a little Holiday Cheer.
  • Santa House: Children can visit the Chamber’s Santa House in Central Park during Saturdays in December to share their Christmas wishes with Old St. Nick.
  • Festival of Trees: Enjoy uniquely decorated Christmas trees by various non-profit organizations in town and vote for your favorite(s) by donating to their cause in collection boxes under the trees. Hosted in November and December by Otto’s Oasis.
