  • City of Charles City, (641)257-6300, No Spring Cleanup. Please do not put items on the curb for pick up. Also, please do not rake leaves or sticks in the street. Shaw Avenue dumpsite is open for leaves, grass and sticks.

  • Feller & Associates, (641) 228-4574, is open for business but will restrict public access to phone calls and emails.
  • Effective May 1st, the Governor of Iowa has ordered that certain businesses which are located in 77 counties (Floyd County is included) may reopen with conditions and limitations. This includes restaurants, book stores, clothing stores, shoe stores, jewelry stores, luggage stores, perfume and beauty supply stores, florists, furniture stores, home furnishing stores and other retail businesses.
  • As of May 15th, the State has allowed the re-opening all hair salons, medical spas, barbershops, tattoo establishments, tanning facilities, massage therapy establishments with restrictions and guidelines. Please contact your individual establishment for their information.
  • Fitness centers may reopen with certain limitations and conditions.
  • All senior citizen centers and adult daycare facilities ordered closed by State through May 27th. Charles City Senior Center closed until at least May 27th.
  • Slinger Chiropractic:  Creating Wellness Center has announced a new online ordering website at Delivery to your door of functional food, supplements and more.
  • Dean Jewelers is now open. Store Hours: Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri, 10 – 5, Thu 10 – 7 and Sat 10 – 2. 

  • Roffman Music will reopen on Friday, May 1st.
  • Snap Fitness, (641) 330-2963, will reopen Monday, May 4th with certain limitations and conditions.   • Otto’s Oasis is now open M – F 9 AM – 6 PM, Sat. 9 AM – 4 PM, Sun. 11 AM – 4 PM. Please adhere to the following precautions: No more than 2 per group, practice 6 ft social distancing, DO NOT ENTER if sick, no public restrooms available. The Gift Shop will reopen Friday, May 1st with certain limitations and conditions. We can still make deliveries of flowers or gifts and also offer curbside pick up. Will do phone-in orders, take payments over the phone and leave your purchase for curbside pickup or else ship it to you. Will read greeting card options over the phone and address, tape it closed and stamp it for you.

  • First Citizens Bank, (641) 228-5315, closing its lobby to walk-in traffic. By appointment only. Drive-thru still available normal business hours, along with online and mobile banking.
  • First Security Bank & Trust, (641) 228-2343, keeping hours of operation the same. As of noon March 18th closing lobby to the public and doing appointments only. Drive-thru lanes will remain open during regular business hours. Encouraging video banking, online and mobile options. Encouraging Mobile Pay through smartphone for touch-free transactions and not handling money or cards.
  • Charles City Family YMCA, (641) 228-2254, will be opening on May 4th! They will begin with Phase 1 of opening from May 4th – May 17th. With this opening comes MANY restrictions.   • Fareway, (641) 228-3365,open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting March 18 … open 8-9 a.m. solely for elderly and high-risk customers with increased susceptibility to serious illness and expecting mothers.
  • Hy-Vee, (641) 228-1726, will be changing hours to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., including the pharmacy, starting March 18th. The dining room will be closed but carry-outs will still be available at the food service counters. Hy-Vee Gas will keep its regular hours. Starting March 19th, all Hy-Vee stores will reserve one hour of shopping time each day for customers at higher risk for illness. Customers age 60 or older, expectant mothers and anyone with an underlying health condition that makes them more vulnerable to illness can shop from 7 to 8 a.m., seven days a week, at any Hy-Vee store.

  • The Edward Jones offices of Mark Sindlinger, (641) 228-6210, and Jeremy Heyer, (641) 228-8040,are open for business but are limiting contact with clients, prospective clients, and the general public to phone calls, email, online account access, and secure message. Face to face meetings and general business are suspended until further notice per the Edward Jones home office.
  • Charles City Police Department, (641) 228-3366, will be discontinuing some services such as vehicle inspections, finger-printing, tours of the police department, as well as no longer accepting treats from the public.
  • The Gift Shop at Floyd County Medical Center is closed until further notice.
  • Sherwin Williams, (641) 228-1036, will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The Charles City Public Library, (641) 257-6319,will be re-opening on a limited basic Monday, May 4th. The Book Drop will be open. Please return materials to the Book Drop. No fines will occur. Lobby pick-up service will resume. Please call 257-6319 with book requests and our staff will assist you.
    All programs are cancelled or postponed. All Meeting Room use is suspended until further notice.
    Our digital services (ebooks, audiobooks, and movie streaming and databases) are available from home.
  • The Charles City Lion’s Club has suspended meetings until further notice   
  • North Iowa Community College, (641) 228-4634,has closed all of its buildings, including in Charles City, to public access. Majority of staff working from home.
  • The Floyd County Courthouse, (641) 257-6131,is closed to the public for in-person traffic. Call individual departments for service options.
  • The Small Business Development Center in Mason City is closed and staff is working from home until April 13th. Clients are asked to complete an online request for counseling at this link and we will give them a call.
  • Charles City Public Transit, (641)-715-1314,is running daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. … buses are sanitized numerous time a day and have some seats folded up for social distancing.
  • Buy Low North, (641) 228-7921, is offering hot food takeout over lunchtime.      
  • Schiller Fine Art, Framing & Photography (641)330-9122 will be re-opening this week. Regular house are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, except for Wednesday, and Saturdays from  9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Shankland Insurance, (641) 228-7436, As of April 8th lobby is closed and in order to keep everyone safe, they are asking their customers to conduct as much business as possible with them over the phone or via email.
  • Crisis Intervention, (641) 228-0015, offices are closed to the public but taking calls, providing services (most over the phone or secure video options) and responding to emergencies.
  • Winnebago Industries is ceasing production through April 12. Remote retail support for dealers, along with technical care, warranty administration and parts fulfillment activities will continue.        
  • Chautauqua Guest Homes and Riverside Assisted Living are restricting visitor and non-essential health care personnel access to their facilities until further notice.
  • Playground Equipment in all City Parks, as well as Washington Elementary, Lincoln Elementary Playgrounds, Immaculate Conception School Playground and the Charles City Middle School Basketball Courts are closed until further notice. City Parks and the Charles City High School track remain open at this time.
